June 11, 1400 hours. Well here we are at the Ocean World Marina in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic which we find delightful. The people here are extremely friendly. We came in for a couple of reasons. We lost our Main Sail two days out of Ft. Lauderdale, and lost our engine alternator four days ago. Also because the bad weather and pending tropical waves we just felt it would be a good idea, especially since its not too easy sailing upwind without a Main.
Plan is to leave for the BVI on Monday morning. The alternator was fixed quickly, and while are all very doubtful that the Main can be repaired, a local person says thay he can do it fine. We will see tomorrow, (Sunday) how that looks.
This had certainly been a "bad luck" trip.
